Being a newly set up company, Biforst decided to join the Singapore Logistics Association as an associate member. We successfully converted to an ordinary member two (2) years later. As a member of the Singapore Logistics Association, we have the privilege to adopt the Standard Trading Conditions for all our services and the access to up-to-date information and news of the logistics industry. The Singapore Logistics Association also serves as a platform for Biforst to join trade events, expand our business network and also learn from the experiences of the fellow members.
In view of the slowly economy, all companies trying to develop cost savings measures, not only in productions, but also in freight. Trucking being a most cost effective mode of freight as compared to air, we have to explore different ways of how we can meet the customers’ requirements to truck their cargos to all countries connect by road.
Around June 2008, Biforst Group has been working with our customer on the possibility of trucking from Singapore to China. Biforst Group started to explore this lane by researching on the various custom formalities required in different countries, the possible routes, the road conditions, stop points, etc. After one month of research, Biforst Group’s management team rented a mini van and started the physical route study from Bangkok to China border. This physical study allowed the team to have a more accurate understanding of the route, environment and risk level of this new lane. During this trip, the management team also visited the Thailand’s customs headquarters in Bangkok to have a better understanding of the custom formalities and requirements.
In January 2009, Biforst initiated the first trial run with physical goods from Singapore to China after all the customs agent appointments has been approved. The purpose of this trial run is to reconfirm the actual custom formalities at the various customs in different countries by physically clearing the goods and also to understand whether the goods can withstand the 6 days travelling.
Biforst has successfully completed the trial run with a transit time of 9 days. Moving forward, Biforst is working towards achieving the transit time of 6-7 days.

With the introduction of the new ISO 9001:2008 standard in early 2009, Biforst immediately embarked on the process of keeping our ISO standard up to date. In September 2009, Biforst was audited based on the new standards and awarded. With this new standard, it will help our company to fine tune and improve on our operational and administrative processes to better achieve the company’s objectives.
With Biforst Group’s past experiences on trucking from Singapore to China, we have once again embarked on our second trial shipment with our client Seagate Technology International. This time: from Thailand to Hong Kong.
After Biforst Group first trial in January 2009, we have been constantly reviewing the routes, custom formalities process, transit hours, looking at how we can improve the overall transit hours. We established the best hours to depart from factory in order to have the smoothest transition at the various customs across the borders. In March 2010, we began our journey from Thailand, with a target of 3 working days, though our customers’ expectation was 5 working days.
Biforst has successfully completed the journey from Thailand to Hong Kong within 70 hours, or 3 working days. We look forward to further improving this transit hours in the future shipments.
